Here are some guidelines that you can use as an orientation for your talk or poster:

ORAL:

  • Time slot includes 15 minute oral presentation and 3 min for questions and answers
  • Structure your talk clearly so listeners can easily follow
  • Use numbers in your slides
  • 7 to max. 12 slides are recommended (on average about 1 min per slide)

FLASH TALK:

  • Time slot includes 5 min talks and 2 min questions and answers
  • Structure your talk clearly so listeners can easily follow
  • Use numbers in your slides
  • 3 to max. 5 slides are recommended (on average about 1 min per slide)

POSTER:

  • Poster size DIN A0
  • Include your e-mail address and picture of you (to assist viewers to contact the authors later), you can also generate a QR-code for your poster.
  • Clear and concise, and should be legible from a distance of at least one meter
    • Use large print and block letters when possible
    • Minimum font size: 28 pt.
    • For the Title a minimum font size of 60 pt. is recommended
    • Max. 600 words are recommended
    • A clear structure, i.e. Introduction, material and methods, results, discussion, and conclusion is recommended

GENERAL:

  • Scientific names in italic
  • Be aware of color use (consider colour-blindness), and font size and colour and background colour
  • Do not use to much text
  • Make sure all graphs, figures and tables are explained in legends and labels
  • Use a point for decimals, i.e. 5.1 and spaces in large numbers, i.e. 2 859 542
  • Prevent separation of numbers and units into two lines by using a hard space
    (Short cut: CTRL + SHIFT + Space bar)
  • Only use metric system
  • Cite your references in text, i.e. use APA as citation style
